I love matching Halloween costumes with my husband and my kids. I just love twinning outfits in general. Little kids are so cute, wearing the same or a very similar outfit. Last year we wore a Matching Clockwork Orange Halloween Costumes with Bobcat. I’m now on the lookout for this years outfit. I think I like to have a movie themed outfit again, as I don’t really like the regular witch or zombie outfits.
So, I teamed up with some of my blogger friends to share their ideas as well as some other inspiration for easy to make, cheap, DIY costumes.
1. Frankeinsten
Classic. All you need is a white lab coat, a borrowed stethoscope is a bonus. Baby’s romper is an easy one too: most big supermarket brands sell these. Alternatively, there is always Amazon of course. From the lovely https://mrsmummyharris.co.uk/
2. Doctor Who
Featured on Io9 this family outfit is clever and features everyone’s favourite: Dalek! All you have to teach to you child is to keep sayin “Exterminate!”
3. Ghostbusters
This Mommy Loves also shares how to make this outfit from pennies! Brilliantly simple. And look at the little ghost, how cute is she.
4. Jaws
Fantastic idea from The Fickle Pickle The adult costume is basically cannot be simple, you would probably find a pair of swimming trunks, a pair of flip flops and some bandages at home. All you need is some food paint and a surfer mate who can lend you a board. The shark costumes are available on Amazon.
5. The Mummy
What a brilliant idea. All you need is bandages. And probably a bit of time, I can imagine it could take some time to make this costume complete within the face paint, but to be fair, it’s cheap and easy to make. For an adult version you obviously jut need some more bandages. And time. Clever. From CTBAKER In The Acres
6. Harry Potter
Aw, Harry Potter fans rejoice! His is definitely on my long list of Halloween costumes for the future, being a big fan. It Must Be Tuesday has some other great ideas on her site.
7. Addams Family
Another classic from the talented It Must Be Tuesday Accessories and whole outfits are easily accessible for this idea, depending on your time and money you want to waste on your Halloween outfit, lot of them can be part of a small DIY project. The wigs and the stripy stockings are essential, but the rest just black suits and dresses.
8. Austin Powers
Well, you need to be bold or you need one if those special make up caps or a skin coloured swimming cap. But it’s very cool, isn’t it? Via I hate my parents
9. Men In Black
Found this idea on Confessions Of A CF Husband and it’s so easy and so cool at the same time. All you need is dark sunglasses and suits. Little alien outfits for he children can be bought online.
10. 101 Dalmatians
You can find the instructions how to make this family Halloween outfit onOur Everyday ArtI live the fact that no matter how many children you have this is a fitting idea! In fact you can involve cousins of your children to. The more the merrier as they say!
11. Fantastic Mr. Fox
Ok, this is a tricky one, I admit it. But I fell in love with his idea when I spotted it on Little Orange Room as I’m a huge fan of the movie. Obviously, this is my next Halloween costume goal. Maybe next year.
12. Star Wars
Naturally, can’t leave a good Star Wars costume idea off the list. A Jedi family is always a safe bet, all you need is matching brown robes. Carlo from Dimple Prints design a whole party around the theme, which looked fantastic.
13. Jurassic Park
One of my childhood favourites, who doesn’t like Jurassic Park? I must have watched it about 50 times. Here’s some great photos from Paul Elder Design how to style your costume. Children can wear a dinosaur costume to complete the family look.
14. Pirates Of The Caribbean
Freshly Completed has written up everything what you need to know how to create the pirate look for each character from the film.
15. Clockwork Orange
Here’s a link to my blogpost how to create the droog outfits: Clockwork Orange Costume
+1 Popcorn!
What makes the cinema experience different from watching movies at home? The big screen and POPCORN. I can’t imagine going to the cinema without popcorn. So here’s a very clever baby wearing popcorn costume for new mamas from Big Fit Fam Genius!
