The natural look of wooden or faux wooden blinds can add a real character to your home. They are timeless and organic so they are perfect to match with both traditional and contemporary decor, adding elegance and texture to your home. They are affordable too.
Year-round insulation
Heavy curtains are not your only choice for an energy-saving insulator, wooden blinds provide year-round insulation. They can help you insulate your windows and moderate the temperature of your home on a natural way. They work in two ways for you. Whilst any room can benefit form a blind, they are perfect for sun-facing windows to keep the heat out. On the other hand, in the colder weather it’s a good way to reduce heat loss out your windows. So in the end, they save energy too.
It’s a good investment
If you consider the energy savings due to their insulation properties, their long-term durability, easy maintenance and the fact that they look good they make a very good investment. They also never go out of fashion, so you don’t need to change them according to the current trends.
They are timeless
They are stylish and complement both modern and traditional look so they practically never go out of style, you can keep them for long years. Typically, lighter wood finishes (oak for example) are used in modern and earthy spaces. Darker wood finishes (mahogany for example) are best for more formal and traditional rooms. White works well with modern, trendy or coastal living spaces.
Different types of blinds
A lot of different blinds are available that would work perfectly with every space: wooden and faux wooden, roller, venetian, roman all fit to measure. Even skylight blinds – there are lot of different options to choose from meaning that there is a right one for every space and room. Take a look at Make My Blinds for some inspiration.
Cleaning the blinds is easy
As opposed to what people think: cleaning your blinds and caring for them is not complicated at all. They can collect dust for sure. Sometimes a quick wipe with a sponge will do, but a few times a year it’s best to take blinds down and wash them properly to keep them looking new. Use a duster or a vacuum cleaner soft dusting brush attachment to remove any dust and dirt. Use a damp cloth to go over each slat, removing any grime and dirt. For any tough stains and marks, you can use a dedicated wood detergent, and leave to dry naturally.
