5 Top Tips For Cosy Winter Movie Nights (Popcorn Shed Giveaway!)

by
popcorn shed

In collaboration with Popcorn Shed.

As the evenings are still getting darker for the next few weeks, I love spending evenings and weekends at home with my family. We don’t normally watch too much telly, but now that the children are in bed by 8pm – we choose a movie to watch every other night, snuggling up on the sofa. Winter nights are for movie nights at home. We also have a tradition of watching a family movie on Sunday afternoons with the children. It’s a great way to relax for all of us before starting a new, normally busy week. I have already planned out all the movies we are going to watch during the Christmas break – half term is for both letting some steam off (by getting the wellies on and spending time outside) and getting some rest because school is very tiring for these little ones.

So these are our top tips for the perfect, cosy, winter movie nights and afternoons.

Pick a movie which lifts your mood

It’s different for everyone of course, some people prefers cheesy romcoms others really enjoy horror movies – what ever your favourite I say! I have some movies I would never get bored of and have seen them dozens of times – still, I can watch them again and again. You can even create a theme or pair the movie with a book and turn the experience into a whole day of fun for the family.

Popcorn

I don’t know about you, but I always have popcorn in the cinema so to complete the movie night experience at home I always get popcorn too. Popcorn Shed has a fantastic selection of gourmet popcorn variety: Chocolate (I loved this one the best!), salted caramel, cheese, berry flavoured and pecan pie even! They made with all natural ingredients and are gluten free too. No nasty preservatives or additives either. Scroll down to win a 7-Shed Pack to taste them all!

Winter drinks

Hot chocolate with marshmallow or amaretto (shhh… for grown ups only!) mulled wine, Irish coffee, hot mulled apple juice (a non-alcoholic alternative to mulled wine), chai latte or matcha green tea latte are all fantastic, warming, special evening drinks for a cosy night or afternoon.

Blankets

Blankets are not only fluffy and cosy to snuggle up on the sofa cuddling your loved ones – but they are also a perfect way to save money on the heating and save some energy. So blankets are really eco-friendly!

Lights and candles

Se the mood with some fairy lights or scented candles, they can create a really cosy and relaxed ambient. Turning the main lights of is also good for the environment!
