So, I’ve been baking all week last week to get the recipe right for this year’s Christmas tree decoration. I’ve decided to make cookie ornaments this year, completely toddler friendly, if Bobcat gets his hands on them and takes a bite – no problemo, it’s just cookies. Oh, and the gorgeous smell of the freshly baked cookies will fill your house for days giving you an extra benefit for your efforts! Find my recipe for the Lebkuchen (German honey and ginger cookie) here: Christmas Lebkuchen Recipe I used 2 methods for decorating the cookies base: Home-made sugar paste. Easier than you …

Christmas Lebkuchen (Honey And Ginger Cookie) Recipe
As promised, here’s the recipe for the Lebkuchen decoration. Lebkuchen is a traditional German Christmas cookie, similar to ginger bread. It’s spicy, and normally comes with sugar icing on the top. There’s a lot of different recipes around and some prefers the very soft and thick cookies, some like it thin and crunchy. My aim was to make thinner cookies, primarily to use them to decorate the Christmas tree. Read here how did we do that: How to decorate your Christmas tree with Lebkuchen ornaments They are also really tasty at the same time and they will keep soft for a …
Chances are the Christmas of 2014 was the last one when I got to use all my carefully selected and colour-harmonised Christmas tree ornaments for a long time. Bobcat was only 8 months old and was only crawling. When I had to leave the room, I just popped him into his playpen. Now, that he’s 20 months old, it’s a different story. I will have to find new ways to make the tree out of his reach or even if he gets his hands on it we won’t end up at the A&E. So I explored my favourite bloggers and …
Creamy risotto with butternut squash and chestnut mushrooms
Not sure what are your little one’s feelings towards risotto, but Bobcat is not a big fan of it. If he likes it, eats it when it’s freshly prepared (such a gourmet this child), but when it’s reheated, he refuses it. I cannot really blame him, combinations such as asparagus and cherry tomato are very boring for small toddlers. This winter risotto recipe, however, was a great success. He loves butternut squash for a start, could eat it every day. Even though, I prepared it more as a grown-up meal because I wasn’t sure if he’s going to like it. …
Since we still can – because we’re not restricted by the unfairly short summer school holiday just yet – we have a holiday in every September. We decided to visit the Basque country this time as British Airways flies to Biarritz. We were looking for mainly self catering options like a holiday house rental, because Bobcat was only 15 months old so we couldn’t really eat out every night with him. I think I’ve never heard about Pierre & Vacances before and I actually never thought I’d stay in such a place. Serviced holiday apartments basically. We booked this one: Pierre et Vacances …
Christmas is around the corner so let’s start the long-waited (or dreaded) shopping season with gift ideas for the little monsters. These will be surely amusing for bubbas 0-2 years and eco-savvy parents equally. When it comes to baby and toddler toys, there are so many brands, shops and reviews as starts in the sky. You probably are getting a lot of them too: traditional toys from Grandma (“I used to buy this for you – remember? – it was soooo hard to get one!” Sure, I remember mum, I was 15 moths old), gender neutral toys from your hipster friends, …
