This is a collaborative post.

For several reasons, staycations in the UK are making a comeback this year, and more people than before are going to be enjoying a trip at home this summer. When it comes to UK travel, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start when you are looking for… It can sometimes be difficult to know where to start when you are looking for things to see and do in the UK, but many people make the mistake of underestimating everything that the country has to offer. No matter what sort of trip away you are looking for, or who you will be travelling with, you will find the perfect experiences and activities to keep you entertained this summer. So, I have put together some of our best staycation ideas in the UK!

Try a new hobby

Even though many of us would like to start a new hobby and broaden our horizons, when you are busy at work and tied up with family commitments, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. So what better opportunity  to start a new project than while you are away on a staycation. For example, by taking a trip to Chill Factore in Manchester this summer you can learn how to ski and snowboard. Yes that’s right, you don’t have to travel to a cold country to learn how to ski! This is sure to be an experience you will remember for years to come and that will make your friends envious.

Visit somewhere romantic

If you are planning a staycation with your other half then we recommend that you take a trip to Edinburgh. It is one of the most romantic places in Britain, with its long walks, picturesque views, and stunning landscape. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink in Edinburgh, so it is the perfect place for a staycation date night. Or Cambridge – just how romantic is Cambridge with its canals and beautiful, old buildings? There are also lots of super cute b&b to choose from.

Go on a fun family day out

If you have children then your summer staycation is likely going to include your little ones as well. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to only plan a trip that is going to interest them. Heading for a fun family day out to a fun venue, such as the zoo or an exciting snow park, is something that the whole family can enjoy. It is also a great opportunity to educate both yourself and your children.

Head to the UK Capital

Whether you have been many times before or have never taken a trip to the country’s capital, heading to London is one of the top staycation ideas out there. From all the tourist attractions that cause millions to flock to the city every year, such as Big Ben, The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and the Houses of Parliament, to the historical buildings, it is no surprise that it is one of the most famous cities in the world. The capital also has a great nightlife to suit all age groups and interests. If you want to see the city from a different perspective, then why not take a trip down the River Thames so that you can get up close and personal with all the best things about London.

Have a thrilling day out

Another great UK staycation idea is to take a trip to a theme park. Everyone loves a thrilling day out, and you aren’t going to experience quite as much fun as you can on a rollercoaster. While we accept that some of the scariest roller coasters aren’t for everyone, most theme parks have a range of different rides that are suitable for different tolerances (and stomachs!). Alton Towers is one of the most popular theme parks in the UK and is home to the infamous ride, Oblivion.

When it comes to thinking about things that we can see and do in the UK for a summer staycation, for most of us, our minds go blank. But by planning ahead, and thinking about what sort of activities and trips you are going to enjoy the most, you can find the perfect staycation ideas that everyone will enjoy.
