I love rich, hearty, almost stewy soups, without meat of course. I’m talking about the ones you could enjoy with a piece of crusty bread and some red wine on a cold day. This lentil soup is like that. Lots of vegetables, some hot chili and green spices. Lentil is a core vegetarian ingredient in my view. Rich in fibre, folate, iron and magnesium, which are important contributors to heart health. Great protein source: 26% of lentil’s calories are attributed to protein. And that’s just the main ingredient! The good thing about a one pot dish is, that basically all you need to …
Foodie Me
I assume – dear reader – you feel the same way after all the holiday celebrations: not only that you ate a lot in the last 2 weeks, but lots of sugary, greasy or meaty things. (Not to mention the drinks…) I feel that my body needs healthier food, because I even have cravings for lighter, vegetarian meals. But still want something substantial and tasty for the family dinner table. So here’s another yummy winter salad, warm, full of protein, hearty, fulfilling and healthy. Quinoa is loaded with fiber, potassium, magnesium and iron. Avocado is a great source of protein too. …
Winter time is soup time for me, I love all kinds of veggie loaded clear or creamy soups. They are also a great way to put more vegetables on the dinner table. Carrot is one of the vegetables we can still benefit from after the cooking process, because it’s easier for our bodies to take advantage of some of its protective antioxidants like beta-carotene and convert it to vitamin A. Ginger, cooked in food and using a small amount is a good way to introduce spices to your baby (from 8 months old and later if the baby has any digestion …

So, I’ve been baking all week last week to get the recipe right for this year’s Christmas tree decoration. Oh, and the gorgeous smell of the freshly baked cookies will fill your house for days giving you an extra benefit for your efforts! Find my recipe for the Lebkuchen (German honey and ginger cookie) here: Christmas Lebkuchen Recipe I used 2 methods for decorating the cookies base: Home-made sugar paste. Easier than you …
Christmas Lebkuchen (Honey And Ginger Cookie) Recipe
As promised, here’s the recipe for the Lebkuchen decoration. Lebkuchen is a traditional German Christmas cookie, similar to ginger bread. It’s spicy, and normally comes with sugar icing on the top. There’s a lot of different recipes around and some prefers the very soft and thick cookies, some like it thin and crunchy. My aim was to make thinner cookies, primarily to use them to decorate the Christmas tree. Read here how did we do that: How to decorate your Christmas tree with Lebkuchen ornaments They are also really tasty at the same time and they will keep soft for a …
Creamy risotto with butternut squash and chestnut mushrooms
Not sure what are your little one’s feelings towards risotto, but Bobcat is not a big fan of it. If he likes it, eats it when it’s freshly prepared (such a gourmet this child), but when it’s reheated, he refuses it. I cannot really blame him, combinations such as asparagus and cherry tomato are very boring for small toddlers. This winter risotto recipe, however, was a great success. He loves butternut squash for a start, could eat it every day. Even though, I prepared it more as a grown-up meal because I wasn’t sure if he’s going to like it. …
