Ethical and Green Swimwear from UKSwimwear.com (Review)

Good news is, that when you need to buy new clothing items and looking for online shops, you now can find some that sells ethically made and eco-friendly items. I recently came across UKSwimwear.com and their sister site UKTights.com and they kindly sent me some items from the ethical and green brands they stock. In my view this is the way forward: the more commercial sites join in and start selling these items, the better for everyone. In fact, this is the only way for those brands to make their way to mainstream fashion. This way, more people will come across them and realise how we all can make a difference by choosing ethically produced and green products. So, I’d like to introduce some of these fantastic beachwear and legwear.

What I picked

I have heard about Aspiga before, but I have never actually seen their products in shops. Their garments ethically produced, hand-made in Africa and India and design them in the UK, using small workforces. They feel strongly about looking after their suppliers, their customers, their employees and the planet – the ethos I can totally share. They use traditional methods and let communities and craftsmen take charge of the manufacture and make them as they want and how they feel is best. I picked the palm tree canvas bag, which will be very handy at our summer holiday and the Maui Kaftan from their collection. They go very well together.

The palm tree print bamboo socks form Charnos are not only a perfect way to brighten my day up – I love colourful prints on socks! The brighter, the better! – but they are super comfortable to wear. So soft and I’m a big fan of palm prints. 

The Pamela Mann recycled yarn tights are my new favourites. They are truly the best tights I ever had. I wear black, 50 and 80 denier tights basically from October till May, all the time as I love dresses and skirts. I’ve tried a lot of different brands from Boots to Calvin Klein earlier but none came close to the quality and the strength of these Pamela Mann tights. These new tights are made of recycled yarns and are designed to reduce the amount of waste and pollution that the industry causes. Textiles is the second most pollutant industry in the world, as you might know. These Pamela Mann tights take nilit yarn, reduce it to its components and remake it into fresh yarn. The result is almost the exact same material that you would normally use in legwear, as this is how legwear is made to begin with.
