Do you feel as though your home is full of clutter and you just have no idea what to do about it? If so then this is the guide for you. Take a look below to find out more.

Collect your Clutter

The first thing you need to try and do is collect all of the clutter around your home. Choose a sturdy box or bag where you can load all of your clutter. This box is not a permanent place for clutter, but rather somewhere for it all to go before you move it out of the home. Ideally, you need to make the box small enough so you can carry it to a second-hand store when it gets full. Bags can be placed on hooks out of the way while you sort through items, and this is great if you have a curious toddler.

Put it Somewhere Noticeable

Your decluttering bag or box has to go somewhere it is impossible to miss. You want it to be a constant reminder that you still have more work to do, so you don’t end up forgetting about it. At the foot of the bed or the bottom of the stairs is usually a good location, but sometimes you can put it in the hallway. When it gets full, make sure that you gradually move it toward the door.

Decide where the Clutter is Going to Go

If you have a charity shop picked out then this will make it easier for you to work through the clutter you have. You will have taken away some of the decisions that could halt you in your tracks and this is great. Ideally, you need to arrange transport and you also need to plan to drop off your donation bag when you know the shop is open. It may sound odd to plan this out,  but little things, such as the shop being shut can easily mean that the clutter ends up being brought back into your home, where it’ll stay for a few months longer. If you have a ton of electrical waste, now would be the time for you to look into an e waste recycling service.

Don’t Re-clutter

It is so important that you make an effort to avoid re-cluttering your home. Slow and steady wins the race here, and if you find it hard to get rid of things, one thing you can do is get rid of a few items each day. Over time this will make a huge difference. When you reach the end of your decluttering journey, simply throw away one item a day, during the week. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to get the result you are looking for.

Reward Yourself

Decluttering is the highest form of adulting, so reward yourself for it. Watch a movie after you have spent hours sifting through items, or take a day out to relax. Little things like this can help to keep you motivated, so make sure that you keep that in mind as it’ll help you out a lot when it comes to clearing out your home.
