This is a collaborative post.
Everyone needs their own time. Time to think. Time to chill out. Time to do the things they love and are interested in. There are ways to make more time for yourself, even if it seems impossible. “Me time” actually helps us be more productive, reduces stress, makes our relationships stronger, and resets our brains. With that in mind, here are some of the best – and easiest – ways to give yourself more time.
Say No
Say no. It’s a simple idea, but it’s one that will free up a lot more time so you can do the things you want to do rather than the things you think you should do. Of course, you shouldn’t say no to everything and everyone because you’ll miss out on a lot. However, if the thing you’re been asked to do is something you don’t want to do, can’t do, or you would rather be doing something else (like relaxing with a good book, napping, or taking a long bubbly bath), then it’s important to prioritise yourself and say no.
There are ways to do this that are polite, and it’s wise to learn them because you don’t want to burn any bridges. But understanding when you can say no and why is crucial.
Find Ways To Cheat
Cheating is usually considered a bad thing and not something most people would advocate. You would cheat on a test or on a partner, for example. However, there are some ‘cheats’ in life that aren’t bad, especially if they free up some time for you to have to yourself to recharge and unwind.
One example is when it comes to cooking. You can cook everything from scratch, and if that’s a way you like to relax, it makes sense to do that. However, it might be useful to have tasty lobster meals delivered, for example. In this way, you spend less time cooking and more time doing whatever it is you want to do.
Wake Up Earlier
At first glance, this might not sound like a very tempting idea. You might think it would be better to get as much sleep as possible. However, waking up just ten minutes earlier in the morning can give you that small window of time to enjoy the peace and quiet of a house before the rest of the family wake up or before you have to start getting ready for work – or actually working.
What could you do in ten minutes that would help you be more positive and relaxed for the day ahead? You could listen to your favourite song (or two or three of them). You could have an extra cup of coffee. You could make a healthy breakfast instead of skipping it or grabbing something on the go.
And what if you woke up half an hour early? Or an entire hour? What could you do then?
Don’t Procrastinate
What happens when you procrastinate? Everything takes longer. This means there is a lot less time for you when you want or need it. Therefore, the best thing to do is try to be more focused so you can complete the tasks you need to complete without wasting any time. In that way, you’ll have plenty of time to relax and chill out.
