ikiki Vegan Children’s Shoes – Review and Giveaway

We have received the shoes in exchange for our honest review.

Buying comfy, protecting and good quality children’s shoes, especially in smaller sizes is always a challenge, because the good ones are too expensive for what they are (they only last for a couple of month!) and made from leather. This latter quality is important for me as I don’t buy newly produced leather goods for ethical reasons. The leather industry is cruel to animals on many levels. Luckily, these days we can buy vegan shoes, that are good quality and they last long too. 

ikiki, the American children’s footwear brand is new to the UK, launching in March 2019 has got a lovely range of, cute and vegan-friendly shoes in sizes 3 – 9. We (well, the little lady to be exact) picked herself a unicorn design from their collection to match with her other Unicorn-heavy things. The shoes are super soft (breathable) and very well made, the design is seamless. They are very easy to put on for the little hands, my daughter, who’s 2.5 years old managed to put them on all by herself. The adjustable single strap helps a lot and makes them a good fit for both narrow and chubby little feet. They are high-tops which gives protection to her ankles (this is especially good for children with hypermobility). Plus, the shoes to fit children with ankle foot orthosis, splints, braces or insoles too.

And the fun part is that they squeak as the child walks! It’s a fun and also useful feature because this mechanism in the sole promotes the development of heel-toe walking. There’s a built-in switch, the squeak can be turned on or off, which I resorted to use this morning after the little lady spent the whole morning marvelling her new unicorn shoes and squeaking around.
