My Ethical And Green Picks Of The Month: April 2021

Gifted products.

One of my favourite thing about my blog is that I have this massive opportunity to make a difference. I use my blog to spread the word and make people aware of ethical and green issues. I find that the best way is to do this by introducing other options, that are positive choices for people and planet. We don’t have to accept and buy the goods big labels and glossy adverts are trying to sell us. Money is a vote which you can use every time you go shopping. By using your spending power wisely you can help to create a better, healthier and greener world.

With that in mind, the idea to create a new monthly review series called “My Ethical And Green Picks Of The Month” was born. The posts are to introduce all the small shops and indie brands which produce and sells ethically produced, eco-friendly, organic, natural, cruelty – free and fairly traded goods, that are alternatives to everyday items such as fast fashion, processed food, cosmetics and cleaners containing toxins and harmful chemicals.

Plastic free beauty basics

Tabitha Eve has been championing the eco-friendly beauty accessories scene for a few years now. Their mission is to provide eco-friendly alternatives to single-use household items, or everyday products that might otherwise be made of plastic. Their ultimate goal is to make it the norm for everyone to buy reusable. I’ve been sent this beauty kit: a box of basics that are really useful. Mostly I was really looking forward trying the nail varnish remover pads as there aren’t many other brands to find and that was a clear gap to fill in the eco beauty market. They work wonderfully, I’m really pleased to find them!

Vegan bakes

I’ve already featured Piglet’s Pantry bakes on the blog and now they have a new product: vegan tear and share roll with tomato chutney – perfect movie night treat or Sunday afternoon chilling. Great flavours and the chutney is really spot on! It was very yummy.

Vegan, palm oil free and natural skin care

Enviromates was founded in 2021 to fight climate change and the growing issue of plastic pollution across our planet. They offer plastic free and sustainable alternatives to your personal care products. I’ve received this their Ultimate Pamper Box consisting of a Spirulina Superfood Body Scrub, a Peppermint Natural Deo Cream, a Sensitive Pink Clay & Passionflower Lip Butter, a Pink Pearl Makeup Remover Cleansing Bar and a Nourishing Pink Clay & Argan Shampoo Bar.

So far I’ve tried the body scrub – which was amazing, really effective to take the dead skin gently off and it smells lovely and the make up remover which I also liked, it has a crumbly and soft texture so it reacts to water quickly and gently foams.

Organic cotton gender neutral kids clothes

We received these great dungarees from Miss Peacocks Makes and my girl loves it! These, and everything they make is fully certified GOTS organic fabric, recycled thread, recycled packaging and GOTS elastic organic elastic. Even their care labels are made from 100% recycled Tyvek – a synthetic paper like material which is made of high-density polyethylene fibers. They are designed as gender neutral but very interesting and colourful designs! How cute is it?

Eco-friendly wine

Sea Change Wine is something I’ve been looking for a long time, so now they definitely gained a new customer. They are plastic free and every bottle of Sea Change helps fund ocean conservation projects across the globe. They use lighter-weight glass bottles, renewable plant-based closures and label paper from sustainable forests made in part from grape waste. I’ve tested their Rose from their range and it’s a really lovely wine. Nice fresh wine that is suitable for vegans, produced by the enigmatic Château Canet in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of Southern France.

Plastic free dental care

PÄRLA – remember this name, because this is your new favourite tooth tablets brand. PÄRLA is a sustainable, ethical and effective choice of toothpaste that looks after your smile – and the environment too! It ticks all boxes for eco-friendly tooth: care: zero waste, palm oil free, plastic free, SLS free, animal cruelty free, contains fluoride, vegan, made in UK, gluten free, naturally whitening.

I’m saying this is really very good. It’s actually so good, that you could easily mistaken it with a mint pastille –  the tabs are softly and immediately crumble in your mouth and I didn’t even need to have a sip of water as my mouth immediately started to produce saliva – lovely tasting toot tabs! Cleans well and indeed it feels like it has a slight whitening effect, but it’s too early to tell as I’ve been using it for a week only. So far I find it amazing.
