Some gifted items.
One of my favourite thing about my blog is that I have this massive opportunity to make a difference. I use my blog to spread the word and make people aware of ethical and green issues. I find that the best way is to do this by introducing other eco-friendly options, that are positive choices for people and planet. We don’t have to accept and buy the goods big labels and glossy adverts are trying to sell us. Money is a vote which you can use every time you go shopping. By using your spending power wisely you can help to create a better, healthier and greener world.
With that in mind, the idea to create a new monthly review series called “My Ethical And Green Picks Of The Month” was born. The posts are to introduce all the small shops and indie brands which produce and sells ethically produced, eco-friendly, organic, natural, cruelty – free and fairly traded goods, that are alternatives to everyday items such as fast fashion, processed food, cosmetics and cleaners containing toxins and harmful chemicals.
Handmade, natural and plastic-free skincare products
Bristolmade products are handmade, free from chemical stabilisers, parabens, artificial colours and preservatives, giving you beautiful skin without any harmful additives. All ingredients are whipped, not heated, which maintains their beneficial properties. These products are truly natural as they only contain plant butters and oils with absolutely no synthetic stabilisers. They are also vegan, cruelty-free and zero waste.
My gorgeous little bundle includes an organic green clay mask, an organic rose and geranium micellar water and red mandarin organic lip treatment. The micellar water is so far my favourite of the bundle, so smooth and silky on my skin and smells divine. It’s also hard to find good micellar water without plastic so I’m very happy with this discovery.
Vegan, oat milk chocolate bars
As a zero waste shop owner I can tell you: chocolate that is vegan, plastic free and delicious is not easy to find. I’ve not tried H!P Oat Milk Chocolate before and I think I really missed out! They are absolutely delicious and the fun and plastic free packaging is a bonus! H!P Oat Milk Chocolate is a new sustainable, plant-based chocolate brand, producing delicious, creamy chocolate from a slave-free supply chain.
The world’s first bamboo deodorant
Yep! You’ve read that well. All-natural, cruelty-free, eco-friendly, moisture absorbing, fresh smelling, convenient, luxurious, and it also comes with a convenient bamboo dispenser that also looks cute! I has a refreshing citrus scent.
When purchasing bamboobar, you have 3 options:
- Buy a starter kit (2 deodorants sticks and a dispenser)
- Deodorant refill pack 3x
- Subscription
Now, you can actually just buy the deodorant sticks as they work just like any other cardboard box tube packaged deodorants. But the dispenser is a very convenient addition – anyhow, the choice is yours.
Toothbrush made with plant based materials
Hello dental products have been just landed in the UK recently. The soft, super-cool tapered black bristles are infused with charcoal. The handle is made with plant-based materials which a step up from plastic toothbrushes and if you never really got on with bamboo toothbrushes, this one is for you as it feels like plastic, but it’s not.

Inspiring environmental heroes – book for children
I bought this book for my children and though we did start to read it I realised they are probably a little too young for this. I’d say it’s perfect for 9-10 years olds, it’s a little dense for young ones me thinks. (From The Little Book Stall)
When faced with climate change, the biggest threat that our planet has ever confronted, it’s easy to feel as if there is nothing you can do. Luckily, Lily Dyu’s Earth Heroes is here to tell us different. From the introduction to the conclusion, and the profiles of 20 “earth heroes” inbetween, this book fizzes with energy and a call to arms that every child (and adult) truly can fight to make a difference, no matter how small the act.
Vegan perfumes
Dolma is an independent British company started in 1982. There is no parent company and they have no association with any organisation that conducts animal testing or uses animal derived ingredients. They also have aftershaves for men and scented candles. Founder James Paye was a vegan for 55 years, he believed we could all survive fine on a Vegan diet and that suffering feels the same, for all creatures.
Dolma ‘s creations are 100% vegan, cruelty-free (leaping bunny certified), also free parabens, palm oil or phthalates. All ingredients are sourced sustainably and ethically, all made in the UK.

Sustainable wallpaper
Bobbi Beck’s paper is sourced from FSC-certified forests, contains no plastics and is fully recyclable after use (just use eco-friendly paste). The inks they use for printing the wall paper are water-based. Even the packaging is plastic free, they only use cardboard box, paper shred and tissue paper for shipping and again, eco-friendly ink for the labels and the box.
The fact that it’s made to order is part of their commitment to sustainability: not only they have an eco-friendly range of products but their production and trade are also contribute positively to a greener world environmentally, socially and economically. So because it’s made-to-order, they don’t use a large warehouse that runs on lots of energy. Instead they just use a print studio and office space that runs on 100% renewable energy and so they also produce next-to-no waste, apart from using less energy.
