Gifted items
One of my favourite thing about my blog is that I have this massive opportunity to make a difference. I use my blog to spread the word and make people aware of ethical and green issues. I find that the best way is to do this by introducing other options, that are positive choices for people and planet. We don’t have to accept and buy the goods big labels and glossy adverts are trying to sell us. Money is a vote which you can use every time you go shopping. By using your spending power wisely you can help to create a better, healthier and greener world.
With that in mind, the idea to create a new monthly review series called “My Ethical And Green Picks Of The Month” was born. The posts are to introduce all the small shops and indie brands which produce and sells ethically produced, eco-friendly, organic, natural, cruelty – free and fairly traded goods, that are alternatives to everyday items such as fast fashion, processed food, cosmetics and cleaners containing toxins and harmful chemicals. My aim is to inspire you to choose positive buying. To reverse reducing the power of local communities, to stop overconsumption, abusing animals and wasting our natural resources.
Reusable make up remover pads
Ecovibe sells a big range of plastic free and zero waste items, like these bamboo and cotton makeup remover pads. But you can find toys, books, household items, cooking and tableware. Very useful and cute things for yourself, your home or as a gift.
The good thing about these pads that they come in a wash bag, which is very handy and also get a mix of soft velvet and gently scrubbing terry pads (16 in total). These should serve you for quite a while! You can save around 15kg of plastic a year by switching from disposable wipes!
Shampoo and conditioner bar
These shampoo and conditioner bars from Kind2 are plastic free, high performing and based on formulas that are vegan, free from soap, sulphates, silicones and parabens. Instead, they’re full of active plant based extracts to gently treat specific hair needs. The soap free aspect is a key what I’d like to highlight here. Its one of the best bars I’ve come across so far, because they don’t make the squeaky from the soap. Some bars make hair heavy and squeaky, but these aren’t so I can wholeheartedly recommend them!
Luxury plastic free cosmetics
Designed with sensitive skin in mind, all our Leaf & Root luxury products are vegan, SLS free, palm oil free & of course, plastic-free. Each item is handmade to perfection in a UK workshop powered by renewable energy. They are also cruelty free – our products are tested on humans not animals always and forever.
I have received these:

Sustainably and ethically made clothing
SJ Clothing makes super soft but still stretchy, wonderful quality t-shirts with positive messages. They use vegan, sustainable and organic fabric and ink.
Sustainable men’s skin care
The Gruff Stuff only use short list of carefully selected ingredients to keep the products clean and eco-friendly. The products are 98% of natural origin and there’s no added water; instead they use aloe juice. The packaging is made with recycled materials.
Eco-friendly home fragrance
I’ve received these beauties from Isla Poppy: a Summer Breeze Candle and snap bars (wax melts) The Summer Breeze Candle has been my best buddy in the last 2 weeks: the smell of freedom, summer meadow and salty air – it’s wonderful! All of the packaging is either recyclable, reusable or biodegradable. The products are also vegan friendly because they are made of soy wax. and of course the added glitter is biodegradable as well.
Reusable wash cloths
These reusable cloths from Amawrap are a wonderful alternative to baby wipes and make up wipes. The cotton is more gentle to your and your baby’s skin and its a great way to help the environment, not to mention save money. Use them to clean your baby’s bottom, for your toddlers grubby hands and faces, and for your own make-up removal and facial cleansing.
Handmade in UK hair accessories
Tot Knots of Brighton makes turban hats, headscarves and tot knots are made exclusively with Liberty of London fabrics, in many beautiful, colourful classic and contemporary designs. Lined with 100% cotton or 100% silk for a super luxurious finish. Every product is handcrafted and handmade to the highest standard.
What do you think of my ethical and green picks for March 2020?
Comments
Thanks for all of these Eva, I really enjoy your blog. I have tried shampoo bars from Lush, I love Lush but the bars have left me with dandruff so I was looking for new ones to try out. I feel lucky we have our local Zero Waste shop half a mile from home. She has closed but is doing home deliveries now.
Love the make-up remove pads! I think I’ll need to get them for myself! So much gentler for the skin too!
Oh love these, we’ve been making changes to our products we have in the house and I love my reusable make up mover pads. I can’t believe I used to throw something away each day doing it. It’s so easy
