So you might know I do love yoga, I practise it not only for the exercise though but for hatha yoga’s holistic approach to yoga and life. Yoga has been a steady pillar in my life to rely on for over 15 years. I’m a huge advocate for taking up yoga because its principles really help to navigate life for me. As part of my yoga routine I always finish with 10-15 of minutes relaxation (Shavasana).
But what if I can combine this relaxation time with some helpful acupressure massage? A massage that improves your local blood circulation, which saturates the cells with oxygen? That’s why when I was asked to do a Pranamat Eco massage mat review I had to say yes.
What is Pranamat Eco?
It’s an acupressure massage set, containing two different pillows and a mat. It provides deep, intense massage in comfort of your own home. Through the little lotus shaped “prickles” it provides acupressure massage. Acupressure is a great way to relieve pain because it releases endorphin. So it also helps you to get a better sleep. Because of this pain managing effect it can also help with different pains such as head aches.
Pranamat Eco also promise to
- Significantly reduce pain through the production of powerful, painkilling endorphins;
- Improve concentration;
- Reduce inflammation without the harmful side-effects;
- Increase circulation;
- Release contractures of the musculature around the cervical spine.
And even fight fatigue.
What makes it eco?
It’s made with natural materials only and have passed rigorous quality tests of quality and sustainability. Pranamat Eco is made with using renewable energy sources for its production. The organic coconut fibre filler is a by-product from the food industry. The lotus spikes are made from a recyclable plastic that has a low-water, low-emission and low-energy footprint. It’s called HIPS plastic, which is used in the manufacture of medical equipment and children’s toys. Even the packaging and manuals are made from recycled and biodegradable materials. Pranamat Eco also bears the OEKO-TEX® certification. (OEKO-TEX is the global standardised quality assurance system for textiles based in Zurich. Oeko-Tex labels and certificates confirm the human-ecological safety of textile products during all stages of production: from raw materials all the way to the end products.) The other material of Pranamat Eco is 100% linen, dyed with natural hypoallergenic dye. Linen is one of the most (naturally) sustainable natural fibres. Pranamat Eco is also produced ethically.
What I thought
At first I thought gosh this is painful! But the good thing is once you are lying on the mat the pain releases and whilst it still give you a pressure it quickly becomes a nice, massage like feeling. Since giving birth – or just age, who knows! – I’m now more to back pain, especially lower back pain and Pranamat Eco really helped to reduce the tension in that are after a day spent on foot.
15 minutes spent on the mat is what is recommended for getting good results and feel the difference. So I did that and as I said the initial pain my body getting on the mat was quickly gone (not wriggling much helps too) and I felt really refreshed after that. I’d suggest to use it either in the morning combining with Shavasana or in the evening to help you to relax and switch off.
