While the lockdown might now be relaxing, there are certain categories of vulnerable people who’ll need to persist with isolation for awhile longer. The prospect might be a galling one, but that’s something that we can guard against by making a few simple gestures to those people in our lives who are still spending most of their time in isolation.
Get in Touch
There’s a simple and effective means of brightening someone’s day that’s easily neglected: just get in touch with the person in question. You can do this by picking up the phone, or via your social network or teleconferencing platform of choice.
Of course, if you really want to send a special message, then the best way of doing so is with the help of an appropriate gift.
Chocolate
Chocolate is a reliable crowd-pleaser, and probably always will be. While the stuff is beloved by just about everyone, everyone also has their own particular preferences, which must be accounted for. Be sure that you’ve done your homework before investing.
Flowers
Given that Britain’s florists are now able to open their doors, and the sun is beaming down once again, there has never been a better time to invest in a bunch of beautiful flowers. Arrange to have them deposited on the doorstep, or deliver them in person.
Greeting Cards
Greetings cards are a reliable way to mark any special occasion. But they’re also appropriate when no significant date has passed. In fact, in this case, they may have an even greater impact because they won’t put across the impression that you’re fulfilling a social obligation. Personalised cards can be obtained easily from a number of specialist online stores.
In the context of the pandemic, you might think of a greetings card as a little bit like a get-well card. It’s an opportunity to express commiserations and sincere best wishes during a time of adversity – and, let’s face it, few times have presented quite as much adversity as these.
Alcohol
A special alcoholic treat from a prestigious and favoured brand is an excellent gift to someone who needs a little bit of reassurance. If you’re feeling especially indulgent, you might splash the cash and go for a bottle of champagne. Alternatively, if you want something a little bit exotic, then you might get them an entire cocktail kit with which to make their choice of beverage, as well as some posh glassware that’ll remind them that they’re loved every time they go for a drink!
