Gifted products.
There are a lot of natural, organic, cruelty-free, vegan – you name it – skincare options available these days. Which is great, but people get easily feel lost when trying to find the right thing. This is what matters to me the most when making a skin care purchase decision:
- sustainability
- ingredients
- packaging
- cruelty free
- and of course I also want them to work!
More often than not I need to compromise.
Luckily, I have been sent to try out Whitfords skincare products. Whitfords is a small, UK based skincare company that makes 100% plastic-free and botanical skincare. Ive received a few products to try out and review. All of their products are gender-neutral, vegan-friendly and certified cruelty-free and come in reusable/re-purposable or endlessly recyclable aluminium jars and not a single bit of plastic – lots of brands claim to be plastic-free and they are not!
I have been advised to use them for 28 days at least (unless developing any discomfort). Which is the best to do with any skincare products before forming any opinion. So I did that, and this is what I thought:
Fruits & Seeds Eye Cream
With Ectoin®Natural (this provides protection against allergens, air pollution, dryness and UVA-induced cell damage), hyaluronic acid, orange blossom and gotu kola extract.
This was my favourite from the lot. It’s a very light and soft texture and it absorbs quickly. They don’t use any fragrance or essential oils in their face products to avoid allergens so all you can smell is a very pleasant scent of the botanical ingredients in it. Even hours after applying, when touching that area I can feel the effect on how very moisturising it is. Just lovely. It feels like it’s working as a shield to protect this delicate area.
Fruit AHAs Exfoliating Mask
With white willow bark extract (a natural source of salicylic acid that does not cause irritation, to exfoliate and unclog pores), natural AHA, watermelon, buriti and jojoba oils and biodegradable castor oil beads.
This mask is very refreshing. Smells very fresh and it’s texture is lovely: as opposed to the grainy, scrubby exfoliators, this is gentle but works very well. As per instructions, once a week, I apply it before my morning shower and wash it off in the shower. Super easy. (Apply with dry fingers onto dry face and massage gently for a minute with your hands. Leave for four minutes then rinse.) My skin felt brighter and refreshed.
16-Oil Replenisher
A blend of 16 organic oils: watermelon, jojoba, buriti, marula, moringa, argan, rice bran, olive squalane, sweet almond, apricot kernel, baobab, pumpkin seed, sunflower, acai berry, juniper berry and grapefruit.
As you can guess from the above: it smells divine. I lately discovered, that oils do wonders for my ageing skin. This oil does a wonderful job: my skin feels moisturised and soft. The tiny cracks close and heal quicker. Very effective on hand, elbow, knee area for me. Brings out a your natural skin tone a bit more glowing.
