People these days are looking at more and more changes to make to live more sustainably. I think that the mindset is shifting and more people want to make conscious choices when it comes to investing or buying something. With a little research we can now find a better alternative to every big label on the supermarkets shelves and beyond.
When it comes to bedding you don’t want to compromise the comfort and luxury of quality items – we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed after all! The good news is, you don’t have to. There are plenty of benefits of sustainable bedding.
Recently, I came across The Fine Bedding Company and they have a great range of sustainably produced and ethically sourced bedding.
About The Fine Bedding Company
The Fine Bedding Company is a a sustainable bedding company with a long legacy of science and innovation. Their top priority is sustainability and comfort and they’re proud to be a fourth-generation UK-based company with our own 100% zero waste eco-factory. They have been producing premium down feather and innovative fibre filled bedding for over 100 years.
The Fine Bedding Company has a focus on sustainability and comfort and they also make sure that their products are ethically sourced and made too.
Their microfibre duvet fillings use 25% less polyester than similar competitor products. Currently 38% of polyester used in their manufactured products comes from recycled products and the majority of their cotton is sources through Better Cotton Initiative sources. They are independently auditing their suppliers for no live plucking and no force feeding (they are by-products of the food industry, much like leather and wool).
The Fine Bedding Company selects their suppliers carefully with high priority placed on fair working conditions. They aim to reduce the environmental foot print of their operations. The duvets have a 19% lower carbon footprint than the industry standard and 90% of all their waste is recycled. The Fine Bedding Company’s packaging is also 100% recycled and recyclable.
Outstanding Product Lines
I mentioned above that The Fine Bedding Company has high ethical standards for down bedding, but they also have a Vegan Down Bedding Collection: No animal components or derivatives; making it more ethically conscious whilst also easier to launder. Instead of goose down, signature fibres made from recycled plastic bottles is used, which uniquely trap air and warmth in the same way as a natural down duvet. The sustainably sourced cotton cover makes the duvet breath easily. The other one that should be mentioned is the Night Owl Coverless Duvet, it’s a brand new concept of home washable duvet, bedding sets and outdoor blankets. It’s also filled with recycled fibres and available a lightweight tog and an all-season tog. Because the duvet has it’s own cover (comes in different colours), no need to change it. This saves time and the wrestling putting the duvet cover on. And I’d also like to mention the Spundown Bedding Range: which is also made with recycled filling, hypoallergenic and machine washable (the duvet to fit in a domestic washing machine, and the fibres to recover and return to their original plump shape).
