Wellies are essential clothing items when you’re a young child. All that outdoorsy fun you don’t want to miss because of bad weather. In fact, that’s part of the fun. One word: PUDDLES. Have you met a kid who doesn’t find puddles the most exciting thing in the world? No, me neither. Bobcat is definitely a huge fan of them. Loves jumping into them and kicking the mud around. Shouts PUDDLE! every time he notices one. And goes straight for it. So he’s got a few pair of wellies, and we need to leave a pair in nursery too, for playing …
Winter
You know the type of craving, when it’s cold and gloomy outside and you’re dying for a hot, satisfying soup. But you suddenly realise that you have nothing at home for anything “classic”. Then, you start to search through the fridge and the cupboard for possible ingredients. I quite enjoy this actually, letting your tastebuds and nose to take you for an imaginative drive. This soup is the outcome of this kind of kitchen tour. I’m so pleased with it, that I thought I have to share it with you. It’s lovely and hearty, but healthy at the same time. …
Just as easy as delicious. Strudel is a very popular pastry in Central – Europe, both the sweet and the savoury versions. For me, it’s a comfort food and also the manifestation of a Sunday lunch at my Grandparents. My Grandma made the pastry all by herself, even when it was already available in the supermarkets. I don’t have the skills or the time, therefore I just bought filo pastry sheets, so it takes very little time to prepare this delicious dessert, around 40-50 minutes from scratch. Ingredients: 6 filo pastry sheets (for 2 strudels) 6 medium apples (not too …

I assume – dear reader – you feel the same way after all the holiday celebrations: not only that you ate a lot in the last 2 weeks, but lots of sugary, greasy or meaty things. (Not to mention the drinks…) I feel that my body needs healthier food, because I even have cravings for lighter, vegetarian meals. But still want something substantial and tasty for the family dinner table. So here’s another yummy winter salad, warm, full of protein, hearty, fulfilling and healthy. Quinoa is loaded with fiber, potassium, magnesium and iron. Avocado is a great source of protein too. …
Creamy risotto with butternut squash and chestnut mushrooms
Not sure what are your little one’s feelings towards risotto, but Bobcat is not a big fan of it. If he likes it, eats it when it’s freshly prepared (such a gourmet this child), but when it’s reheated, he refuses it. I cannot really blame him, combinations such as asparagus and cherry tomato are very boring for small toddlers. This winter risotto recipe, however, was a great success. He loves butternut squash for a start, could eat it every day. Even though, I prepared it more as a grown-up meal because I wasn’t sure if he’s going to like it. …
