There’s Still Time To Be Healthier Before The End Of The Year

You might have said at the start of the year that you want to focus more on yourself and your lifestyle. Sleep

A good amount of sleep is paramount if you want to be healthier. This is because when you are sleeping, your body is busy repairing all the parts of your body that have suffered wear and tear the previous day. A lot is happening while you are sleeping, for one you are recharging your batteries ready for the next day. You should be aiming for around six to eight hours of sleep each night in order to feel refreshed and energized. 

It isn’t just the amount of sleep you are getting, it is also the quality of sleep you get each night. If you sleep for eight hours but are constantly being woken up by others around you, you won’t feel as refreshed as you would without being woken up. Lack of sleep along with tossing and turning each night could also be down to an uncomfortable mattress. This is common as not everybody knows to change a mattress every six to ten years.  

Check Ups

It is essential that you keep on top of all your check ups and vaccinations as soon as you are called for them. A routine check up with your doctor could show something that you haven’t noticed yourself. They may send you for various blood tests and scans to make sure you are remaining on top form. Something else to monitor and book for is your annual free flu shot, flu is awful so you are best to avoid it. 

Diet

Something else that will keep you healthy is watching what you are eating. If you have spent a good part of the year enjoying unhealthy foods then you are more than likely feeling and noticing the effects of this. It doesn’t take long for your body to detox once you start eating healthier alternatives. It can be tricky finding the time to eat, especially if you are busy trying to juggle home and work life. If you prepare your meals as a batch production at the start of each week then you have more of a chance of staying on track. In order to remain healthy and well you should incorporate one of each food group into your meals. These include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. 

Exercise

It is so important you keep yourself moving regularly throughout the day. If you don’t include many exercises in your daily routine then you are more than likely going to feel this in your joints. It doesn’t take much for your joints to stiffen if you don’t keep them mobile. You should be aiming to incorporate about 45 minutes of exercise each day into your daily life. This will keep you looking and feeling fit and well. The trick here is to find an exercise you enjoy, that way you are more likely to want to do it. Anything that gets your heart rate going is classed as exercise, so if you want to hike up that hill during your lunch break, you go for it.
