It is easy to feel useless during this lockdown period. If you aren’t working, the temptation to spend your hours in front of the TV watching Netflix is all too real. But instead of wasting your time this lockdown, there are a lot of genuinely useful things you can do in the house and the garden.
Today I am sharing some of the best jobs you can do during this period as well as some fun and useful ways to spend your time.
Grow vegetable scraps
The first thing we are going to talk about is regrowing foods from the grocery store to save yourself a trip. We all know how horrible the shops have been recently so the idea of queuing up outside the store and fighting other shoppers is something we want to avoid. Instead, why not grow your vegetables from scraps? From lettuce to herbs and even garlic, there are so many you can try today to save some money and get fresh produce.
Clear out your furnishings
Is your home starting to feel stifling and stuffed with furniture? If so, it’s time to use a Quick Self Storage unit and get rid of some of the clutter. Think about how many coffee tables, bookcases and chairs you actually need and start to minimise the mess in your house.
Eradicate weeds in the patio
Weeds are a nightmare, and they seem to be able grow and take over literally everything. If you are struggling with weeds growing through the cracks of your patio this year, now is the time to take action and get rid. Weeds can be easily removed in bulk with a hoe, and spraying weed killer on the remaining plants should get rid of them within 24 hours. If not, try boiling water!
Bake bread
If you have never baked bread before, lockdown offers an opportunity to try this simple skill. You can create some amazing loaves and crusty rolls at home using only strong white bread flour, yeast, and salt and sugar. It is easier than you think to make bread and it will provide a comforting and satisfying side dish to many meals during this time.
Wear your wardrobe
If you have a lot of clothes in your wardrobe but no idea how to put an outfit together, why not take the time now to learn? Use Pinterest and instagram to find ideas for outfits you like, and use your own clothes to recreate them. There are so many combinations you can come up with and you will end up with a whole new sense for fashion by the time we are back out in the world.
Learn to meal prep
As tempting as it is to eat pizza and drink beer during lockdown, there is a huge opportunity here to get fit and introduce better habits to your life. To start this, you can learn meal prepping. Meal prepping is super simple and it will provide you with lunch meals or even dinners for days and days. Use a protein source like chicken or beef, a carb source like rice or potato, and veggies to make up easy meals to enjoy and stay healthy.
