Vitamins are important, multivitamins can play an important role when nutritional requirements are not met through diet alone. There can be a number of reason for this both medically or in individual lifestyles – so in my view, they are necessary to fill the gaps: lack of decent food on a busy day, going through an illness or stressful period etc. There are certain vitamins like vitamin D that are highly recommended to be supplemented. (Many people have insufficient levels of vitamin D, because they live in places where sunlight is limited in winter, or because they have limited sun exposure.)
Since it’s Veganuary still, I have teamed up with Vegums to review their vegan vitamins range.
Vegums are a plastic-free, 100% carbon negative, vegan gummy supplement company. Vegums supplements have been developed with plant-free diet in mind: it can be difficult to get sufficient essential vitamins such as B12, D, B6, selenium, and Iodine from non-animal diets. But in in 2022! Not since 2018 anyway when two vegan pharmacists developed their hit formulas. Vegums use natural colours and flavours, and a pinch of natural cane sugar for sweetness.
It is specifically designed for vegans. This supplement range is NOT for you, if you aren’t vegan. Why? Because a plant-based diet is usually packed full of essential vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin A, B & C. However, some vitamins are difficult to get from plants, and are largely present in meat and dairy products, such as vitamin D, B12, iodine and more. For this reason, a standard multivitamin would give you too much of what you already have and too little of what you really need.
You can purchase one off products or you can go for a subscription. This way you can see what works the best for you.
Vegums multivitamin contains ther daily required B12, B6, D2, selenium, folic acid and iodine, all in just two little gummy bears! These are flavoured with natural strawberries and coloured with black carrot extract making them super tasty.
A-Z Sugar-Free Multivitamin
A blend of 10 vitamins and minerals, including B12 to support your metabolism and create healthy red blood cells, zinc to assist growth and development, and vitamin K to regulate bone metabolism and blood calcium levels.
Vegan omega 3 from marine algae, made with natural colours and flavours, but zero animal products. Providing a huge 80mg DHA per daily dose, they help to maintain healthy eyes, skin, heart and brain. A great-tasting orange flavoured alternative, kinder to our oceans and sea-life.
The Iron gummies are suitable for both kids and adults and contain no artificial colours or flavourings. Iron is an essential nutrient where getting your daily dose can help to prevent anaemia, which manifests as tiredness and a lack of energy.
Not using animal by products Vegums don’t support animal farming. 30% reduction of the meat consumption and abolishing factory farming are vital to help us to tackle climate change.
The packaging material of Vegums is also eco-friendly: card board tube, metal tin, paper and carton packaging can be all recycled and are plastic free. The wrapper bags are plastic-free cellulose bags made from cornstarch. They are 100% biodegradable and home compostable too: they can go straight in your compost bin.
What I thought about them
Well, as long as they are sustainable and plastic free, I’m sold! I think it’s important to know that the vitamin vitamins range was developed by vegan pharmacists so they are definitely experts on how to balance vitamin intake and vegan diet.
The gummies are small – I did like this fact as I don’t have a sweet tooth. As an adult I take two and children take one. Simple. One vitamin range for the whole family. (In case you are raising vegan kids.)
I like the fact that you can purchase them as a one off to try them and if you do just subscribe and forget about thinking about when are you going to run out and need to reorder – it will be automatically arriving with your subscription at the right time.
