This is a collaborative post.

With the majority of jobs requiring several hours of desk time each day, focusing on wellness has never been more important. A lot of workplaces have even implemented their own programs to safeguard the health of their employees. Ensuring the wellbeing of workers can, in turn, contribute to increasing both productivity and creativity.

So, how do you integrate wellness and other good health habits in your office? Check out the following ideas to see which ones would work best for your organisation.

Have a Mini-workout Zone

Your office space does not have to look like the traditional boring space with desks and cubicles. You can either transform it into a mini-workout zone or dedicate a specific area for exercise. For example, provide cardio equipment such as treadmills or elliptical trainers that your employees can use throughout the day. Or, design your office space to encourage lots of walking and physical activity. Even a 10-minute workout can count towards making a huge impact on fitness in the long run.

You can also provide pamphlets featuring tips on how to exercise while employees are at their desks. There are lots of simple stretches you can do to ease neck and shoulder pain, for instance. Furthermore, doing exercises while seated can help to ease boredom.

Dedicate a Specific Time and Day for Exercising

You can work with a professional fitness instructor to lead your employees in a mini-workout session. This can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as an hour. You decide what works best with your work schedule. Either way, this will be one of the things that your employees can look forward to each week.

As much as possible, go for different exercise methods. For example, you can focus on light cardio exercises first, and then yoga or kickboxing in the weeks that follow. Changing things up from time to time can ensure that everyone stays engaged. Another tip is to wear slimming shapewear and comfortable, stylish workout clothes to stay inspired.

Encourage Employees to Take the Stairs

Elevators are heaven-sent when you work in a high-rise building. But it is important to encourage your employees to take the stairs once in a while, too. This simple activity can offer plenty of health benefits, such as stimulating blood flow and burning some calories. Even taking the stairs once or twice a week can be beneficial to your health. So if you are not in a hurry, try to take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Take a Walk Often

During lunch or breaks during work, make it a habit to walk around. This is especially useful when work starts to become stressful or you feel lethargic. By walking, you can stimulate blood flow throughout your body. It also helps with mental relaxation so you can be more productive when you return to your desk.

Simple techniques can also be done to increase the number of steps you take at work each day. For instance, park your car at the spot that is farthest from your office building. This will compel you to take additional steps to your place of work.

Plan Your Snacks for the Week

Impulsive eating is often the culprit of unhealthy diets at work. It is, therefore, a good idea to plan your meals a week in advance. This is not only practical as you know what food items to pick up at the grocery and what healthy recipes to prepare, but also ensures you eat healthy snacks only.

If you do not bring your own meals to work, talk to your employer about the possibility of incorporating healthy food choices in the cafeteria. Eating healthy is one of the best ways to promote health and wellness, whether you’re at home or in the workplace.

Take a Nap

Napping is one of the best ways to stay mentally sharp and productive at work. Make sure to get them as often as possible. Even short naps for five to 10 minutes can make a significant difference. You will wake up after your sleep feeling refreshed and alert. This can be difficult to do without informing your boss beforehand, so make sure you communicate with your superior if you need to re-focus by taking a little shut-eye.

Change Up Your Work Environment

If it is possible, try to change up your office space. You can take your laptop to an outdoor area where you can breathe in the fresh air as you work. It is also a good idea to get some sunlight, too. It is an old-fashioned approach to workplace wellness, but it is also one of the most effective. You will become more productive when you change up your environment, especially when your desk starts to become stale.

Take a Supplement

Taking supplements can be helpful in your quest to becoming more productive and alert in the office. There are several kinds sold in the market that you can include in your daily routine. For instance, if you want to lower your blood sugar and build muscles, creatine supplements are the ideal option for you.
